    What we look at

    • Waves

Wave height and period help describe the sea. Coastal forecasts can miss conditions inside a sheltered cove.

    • Wind

Strength, gusts and direction matter. Wind blowing out to sea can cause drift even on a calm-looking surface.

    • Water temperature

Cold water lowers swimming comfort and matters especially for children. Check the water temperature shown beside each score.

    • Weather & daylight

Rain and feels-like temperature affect comfort. After sunset, we switch to the next morning’s forecast.

    • Sun & shade

Strong UV needs protection. Shade information helps with family planning.

    • Getting into the water

The guide’s shallow-water information matters for families. Parking and listed lifeguards stay visible as practical details.

Official warnings and worsening conditions can limit a recommendation. Good weather cannot cancel a serious problem.

    Good to know

    Does the season matter?

Actual conditions matter more than the month. Cold water and cool air can lower a score in any season.

    What happens after sunset?

We automatically show tomorrow morning from 10:00. Before sunrise, this becomes “This morning”. During daylight, scores cover the next few hours. Near sunset, we only assess the remaining daylight.

What if there is no recommendation?

Missing or old forecasts mean no score. Limited information and serious hazards have clear labels. The beach guide stays available.

Can I trust this for a long swim?

Use it to plan, then assess conditions locally. This is a forecast estimate, not a safety assessment or a safe time in the water. The recommendations have not been validated against local beach observations.

    How busy will it be?

Crowd labels are estimates for now. Parking and listed services are guide information, not live availability.

Where does the information come from?

Open-Meteo provides weather and sea forecasts. AEMET provides weather warnings. Facilities come from our beach guide; check availability locally.
